Also, Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 is due any day now. If history is any indication, 6 months after the first service pack comes out, XP will become obsolete in the market, ie, software being developed from then onward will not be targeting XP machines. So the argument for keeping XP (compatibility) is soon to an argument against XP.
I will be following that market trend, which is to say, I will be phasing out keeping drivers and other software on hand for XP, and by Windows 8’s release, remove such materials from my repertoire altogether. This means servicing such machines will get more expensive.
It was a good run, XP, but it’s time to pass the torch.
